Dr. Christopher Smith is a 2021 inductee into the School of Criminal Justice Wall of Fame and a Professor at Michigan State University since 1994.  He has authored or co-authored more than 20 books and more than 100 scholarly articles.  He is currently the Board President of the Michigan Coalition for the Prevention of Gun Violence.

Courage for Peace, Not for War

Kathy Kelly is an American peace activist, pacifist and author, one of the founding members of Voices in the Wilderness and, until the campaign closed in 2020, a co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence.  She has been a part of peace team work in several countries, and arrested more than sixty times at home and abroad.  She has written of her experiences working among targets of US military bombardment and inmates of US prisons, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Profiles of Faithful Perseverance: Six African American Catholics Who Should be Named Saints

Raised in the District of Columbia, Charlene has worked as a teacher and advocate for children with disabling conditions, and as an educator for the Archdiocese of Washington on the elementary and high school level in addition to facilitating catechist formation courses for adults. Charlene Howard’s faith was cultivated in both the Baptist and Catholic traditions among family members who were actively involved in a variety of ministries and leadership of their respective faith communities.  She is the National PCUSA Council President.
